Section 4. First-aid measures
- Eyes
- Rinse immediately with clean running water for at least 15 minutes, holding the eyelids open. Remove contact lenses if easy to do. Get medical help straight away.
- Skin
- Take off contaminated clothing immediately. Rinse the skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical help for burns, pain or redness.
- Swallowed
- Rinse the mouth with water. Do NOT make the person vomit. If they can swallow, give a small glass of water to sip. Get medical help immediately and take the container or label with you.
- Breathed in
- Move to fresh air at once. If coughing or breathing difficulty occurs (for example after products were mixed), get medical help immediately.
- Most important symptoms
- Burns and pain to skin and eyes; serious eye damage; burning of mouth and throat if swallowed.
- Note to doctor
- Treat symptomatically. Contains sodium hypochlorite and sodium hydroxide (pH about 12–13).
Section 5. Fire-fighting measures
- Suitable extinguishing media
- Use what suits the surrounding fire. The product itself does not burn.
- Specific hazards
- In a fire or when heated, may release chlorine and other irritating gases.
- Advice for fire-fighters
- Wear breathing apparatus and protective clothing. Cool closed containers with water spray.
Section 6. Accidental release measures
- Step 1
- Keep children and pets away. Wear gloves.
- Step 2
- Dilute small spills with plenty of water and mop up. Keep acids away from the spill.
- Step 3
- Absorb large spills with sand or soil and collect in a plastic container. Ventilate the room.
- Environment
- Prevent large amounts from entering drains, rivers or soil.
Section 7. Handling and storage
- Safe handling
- Read the label before use and follow the directions. Keep the cap tightly closed when not in use. Do not mix with other cleaning products. Wash hands after use. Pour carefully to avoid splashes. Always add the product to water, never water to the product. Use in a well-ventilated area. Never transfer into drinks bottles or unlabelled containers.
- Storage
- Store in the original, closed container, upright, in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight (below 35 °C). Keep out of reach of children and pets, away from food and drink. Store locked up. Store away from acids and acid cleaners (e.g. Stain Remover, Ultra Cleaner). Heat and sunlight weaken bleach. Protect from freezing and do not store in hot vehicles.
- Incompatible materials
- Acids, ammonia, metals and reducing agents.
- Shelf life
- Best used within 6 months of purchase — chlorine bleach slowly loses strength, faster in heat and sunlight.
Section 8. Exposure controls / personal protection
- Exposure limits
- Chlorine (only if released, e.g. by mixing with acids): ACGIH TLV 0.1 ppm (8-hour), 0.4 ppm (short-term). Sodium hydroxide: ACGIH TLV 2 mg/m³ (ceiling).
- Ventilation
- Good general ventilation. Open windows when using indoors.
- Personal protection
- Always wear rubber (nitrile or PVC) gloves and eye protection (safety glasses or goggles). Wear old clothes or an apron. Work in a well-ventilated area.
Section 9. Physical and chemical properties
- Appearance
- Thick liquid, colourless to pale yellow
- Odour
- Chlorine with a lemon note
- pH (as supplied)
- About 12 – 13 — strongly alkaline (estimated from the formula)
- Flash point
- Not applicable — water-based, does not burn.
- Boiling point
- approx. 100 °C (water)
- Density
- approx. 1.0 – 1.1 g/ml at 20 °C (estimated)
- Solubility in water
- Fully miscible.
- Viscosity
- Thick (gel-like) liquid
Section 10. Stability and reactivity
- Stability

- Conditions to avoid
- Heat, direct sunlight, freezing.
- Hazardous decomposition
- Chlorine, oxygen and sodium chlorate when heated.
